Midwest Eye-Banks marks grant program’s 30th anniversary with $156K in grant funding
Midwest Eye-Banks has announced its research grant funding for 2010, marking the 30th anniversary of the organization’s Eye and Vision Research Program. Since its inception in 1980, the program has provided nearly $3 million in seed money to researchers investigating the causes of and cures for blinding eye conditions.

Midwest Eye-Banks is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight. Through our locations in Illinois, Michigan and
New Jersey, we recover, evaluate
and distribute human eye tissue
for transplantation.
As part of our mission, we support preliminary research into the causes and cures of blinding eye conditions. Through public and professional education programs, we encourage people to learn about eye, organ and tissue donation. We also provide humanitarian aid to those unable to afford transplantation procedures, both
at home and abroad, by waiving our
tissue processing fees when a charitable need exists.
